History

History

Rocky Mountain Ultrasound was formed out of greater than 15 years experience with teaching ultrasound to emergency physicians who were either in their residency or practicing in the community. Rocky Mountain Ultrasound began providing educational offerings as it became evident that there was great need locally, nationally, and internationally for specialized training in using ultrasound in the emergency department. We developed specialized courses to meet the clinical needs of physicians with varying levels of training in emergency ultrasound, from those who have residency training in ultrasound, to those with little or no exposure to ultrasound in the emergency department. Initially courses were performed in the Rocky Mountain region, but as interest in ultrasound education grew, courses have been given in many locations in the United States and also in Hong Kong. As a result, greater than 1,200 physicians, including those specializing in emergency medicine, surgery, family practice, and critical care, have been trained in courses given by the faculty of Rocky Mountain Ultrasound.
