 Ultrasound is a technology increasingly finding its way into the hands of clinicians who perform studies at the bedside. Many emergency ultrasound applications have been found to improve patient care, while also decreasing delays in patient disposition as well as complications associated with invasive procedures.
Ultrasound can be a very technically demanding diagnostic tool and while residency programs are including ultrasound education as part of their base curriculum, many physicians still have little or no access to adequate ultrasound training. As a result, a large number of physicians are finding the need to incorporate ultrasound into their clinical practice, yet with little opportunity to acquire the necessary skills.
The faculty of Rocky Mountain Ultrasound have been using ultrasound in their daily practice and teaching it to clinicians for over 10 years. They understand the nuances of political issues that can arise when a group starts an emergency ultrasound program. As well, they have had extensive experience with the development of quality assurance programs, billing for studies, and techniques for ensuring the health of a new program.
